Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most often.

How do I get started?

Email Sal at SalCarnevale1@gmail.com or fill out our contact form. He’ll get back to you quickly to schedule a site visit. There’s no cost and no obligation for the initial conversation.

What areas do you serve?

We primarily serve Morris, Union, and Essex County, NJ — including Summit, Chatham, Short Hills, Madison, Basking Ridge, Westfield, Warren, New Providence, Livingston, Millburn, Morristown, Florham Park, Montclair, Maplewood, Glen Ridge, South Orange, Cranford, Scotch Plains, Mountainside, Springfield, and surrounding communities. Not sure if we cover your town? Just ask.

What types of projects do you take on?

Kitchen remodeling, bathroom renovations, home additions, custom cabinetry and built-ins, outdoor living spaces, full home renovations, and custom home building. We focus exclusively on high-quality residential work.

How much does a remodel cost?

It depends on the scope. A cosmetic kitchen update might start around $15,000–30,000. A full gut kitchen renovation in a Morris County home typically runs $40,000–$100,000+. A home addition runs $80,000–$300,000+ depending on size and complexity. We provide detailed, line-by-line estimates — no vague numbers. See our Kitchen Remodel Cost Guide and Home Addition Cost Guide for more detail.

How long does a project take?

A bathroom remodel typically runs 4–10 weeks. A kitchen remodel runs 6–12 weeks. A home addition runs 3–6 months depending on size and complexity. We give you a realistic timeline upfront and keep you updated throughout. See our bathroom remodel timeline guide for more detail.

Are you licensed and insured in NJ?

Yes. Carnevale Construction is fully licensed as a NJ Home Improvement Contractor and carries general liability insurance and workers’ compensation coverage. We provide documentation on request.

Do you pull permits?

Yes — always, when required. We handle the permit process in every town we serve and know the local requirements well. We never suggest skipping permits to save money. Unpermitted work creates serious problems when you sell.

Who will be on my job site?

Sal oversees every project personally. Our crews are consistent — you’re not meeting new faces every week. For specialized trades (plumbing, electrical), we work with trusted subcontractors we’ve used for years.

How do you handle change orders?

All changes are handled in writing with a clear price before any additional work is done. No verbal approvals. No surprise bills at the end.

Do you work with architects?

Yes — we regularly partner with local architects on complex projects. If your project requires an architect and you don’t have one, we can recommend firms we’ve worked with across Morris and Union County.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes. We stand behind our work. If something isn’t right after we finish, call us. That’s not just a policy — it’s how a family business with a 40-year reputation operates.
